therapy in NYc
Awareness and understanding of hormonal patterns and emotional health. Reproductive mental health in NYC.
I feel like this is more than PMS. Could that be true?
→ Do you feel like there is a “good” part of the month and a “bad” part of the month when you think about your emotions or relationships?
→ Have you been diagnosed with PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) or PME (premenstrual exacerbation) or had a provider suggest a hormonal birth control or a strategically timed SSRI to help you with your concerns?
→ Have you noticed that there is a part of your menstrual cycle in which you really don’t feel like yourself?
→ Have you been coping with emotional or identity difficulties since trying to get pregnant (TTC)?
→ Have things felt quite different for you emotionally after giving birth?
→ Did you notice a change in how you felt emotionally after you stopped nursing a child, or started weaning?
→ Are you working with a psychiatrist, ob-gyn, or other medical professional to manage your hormonal shifts and want some support in processing how this has felt?
→ Are you coping with perimenopause symptoms that seem to impact your emotions in a way that feels intense for you?
→ Have you felt different since starting a new form of birth control?
→ Have you felt different since stopping a form of birth control?
→ Are you living with a chronic health condition and suspect your hormonal cycle might have an impact on how you feel?

therapy for when you notice your hormones impacting your mental health
Validation for the patterns you’ve noticed and support for your concerns.
you are not alone! so many people feel the very same way.
Cyclical hormones can impact us in many ways. While these ways are not yet widely discussed, the changes we notice in our bodies and emotions are not made up, and we are not “hysterical”.
Our work together
We are here for you because you matter. You deserve to have your symptoms taken seriously and to stop minimizing. Together we validate your experience through the care and support we create and we fight stigma and systemic dismissal through our work. We explore your identity and your value and help design a system of care that works best for you and your life.

Because there hasn’t been enough discourse about how the menstrual cycle and cyclical hormones can impact how we feel, many of us have learned to minimize our experiences, even to ourselves! Let’s give you the chance to actually figure out the answer to this question yourself. Let’s talk about how you are feeling and what parameters feel best for YOU.

PMDD and PME are the current designations we have to identify disorders that impact mental health and occur during certain menstrual cycle phases.
PMDD is a hormone-based disorder, not a hormone imbalance. PMDD causes significant disruption to daily life and a great deal of distress.
PME is the exacerbation of already existing conditions, such as anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, or borderline personality disorder during certain cycle phases.
IAPMD, The International Association for Premenstrual Disorders, offers a self-screen.

Together we are able to understand and validate what you are going through and define it in your own terms. We can create systems of support, care, and understanding. Cognitive behavioral interventions have been shown to reduce the severity of symptoms related to many hormonally-related conditions including perimenopause and PMDD. Additionally, it’s important to have a space for you to explore how these experiences impact you, your body, and your identity. You matter!
